Knowledge is a Right
The Anuradhapura Clinical Society (ACS) was established in 1994 and has served as a cornerstone for knowledge sharing, career advancement, research, and partnership building among healthcare professionals in the region. In addition, ACS has acted as the local coordinator and facilitator for national-level training and clinical events, collaborating with various professional organizations and colleges.
In 2002, ACS began publishing the Anuradhapura Medical Journal (AMJ) as its official journal.
By 2024, ACS has a well-established series of Continuous Medical Education (CME) lectures accredited for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). It has also established a dedicated research academy providing open access to preliminary research assistance and training, a regularly published newsletter, and an Annual Scientific Session held for the 16th consecutive year. Furthermore, regular postgraduate exam support classes for doctors have been established, along with the ACS Virtual Library, created in 2022, offers free access to resources. ACS has gained national recognition as one of the most active regional academic organizations for healthcare professionals.
However, since November 2024, the very existence of this remarkable organization has been threatened. Which was once a flourishing and robust organization is now being undermined by a small group of individuals with hostile attitudes toward its growth. These few have introduced unnecessary bureaucracy that is detrimental to society’s mission. As a beneficiary of this esteemed society, it is your time to stand together, it is time for your voice is heard, #SaveACS.
